Basketball Game Olympic Google Doodle

With a few more days left in the London 2012 Olympics, Google is making sure that the best Doodles are stored for the last. Today’s Olympic Google Doodle allows you to play the game of basketball right on their homepage. Yesterday we saw the Hurdles Game Doodle and today’s is no different. In the basketball game all you get to do is dunk as many balls you can in basket. You have 24 seconds and the timer starts counting backwards once you start with your first ball. Instead of ramming the keyboard like the hurdles game, this time all you need to do is press the Spacebar long enough in order to throw the balls accurately. You can even use your mouse instead of your keyboard.

It’s critical that you get the right timing for dunking it correctly and I am pretty sure the first few attempts will not be that great. Also, if you notice, after the first 14 seconds, the athlete moves further away from the basket and you need to adapt to a completely different timing in order to score the last few points. Speaking of points, every time you get a ball into the basket you get 2 points. You can throw as much basketball you like depending on the given timeframe. Once your timer is up you can start all over again, search the Google query result for “Olympic Basketball 2012” and also share your score in Google+.

The animations are really smooth and I love the part where the green holder slides back and forth for your player in order to deliver the next ball. Behind the scene you can see the letter of Google as if they are sitting on the gallery bench. Overall, this is a simple yet fun game that you can fully enjoy on your Google Homepage.
