Google+ is growing popular rapidly and its time that developers jump in to extend their API and build some great apps so that the social network attracts a wider range of people. You must have seen how Tweet Deck pops up a desktop notification when an event takes place in one of your columns. Looks like you can experience the same sort of functionality with Google+. Today I am going to show you a step by step guide on how to set up Google+ Desktop Notifications on Windows.

Step 1: Download Gplus Notifier

First and foremost you need to download a software called Gplus Notifier.  What this software does is it allows your Windows Notification Center to access the Google+ API via your online profile when you are connected to the internet. If you are not a geek like me then let’s just cut the crap I wrote in my pervious sentence and simply download the software.  [Download Now]

This is the most important step. The first thing that you need to do after successfully installing Gplus on your Windows PC or laptop is to sign in with your Google Account. Make sure you are using the same E-Mail address that you used for Google+ .

Once you are singed in you can close Gplus but note that it will still be running on the background and you can access it from the System Tray on the lower right hand side of the taskbar.

Open you System Tray by clicking the small up arrow shaped icon on the lower right hand side of the screen and select Customize. Find the program called G+ Notifier and from the drop down make sure that Show all Notifications is selected.
