Nokia comeback with Symbian Belle.
Remember the name Nokia, the company who once dominated the mobile market like a ruthless dictator. Maybe all of us thought that the golden era of Nokia smartphones were over and they had nothing more to offer. With the ever increasing popularity of the Android devices and the iOS still ruling the hearts of many the last time we heard from Nokia was a few months ago when they formally announced that they tied up with Windows Phone OS to bring up their next line of phones. Indeed, it was a desperate move to save the company from real jeopardy. But the smartphones never actually arrived in the market while loyal Nokia fans waited with eager expectations. So many critics and mobile enthusiast started asking the dark question ” Is Nokia Over? Will the Golden Days of Nokia never come back?” Finally after months of staying below the radar, today Nokia introduced their new Symbian Belle and also announced three new smartphones.
Soon after the release of iOS and later Android the Symbian was much criticized and it became evident that the Company could not keep up with the advanced technologies from Apple and Google. Even though the Nokia Ovi Store existed long before the iOS App Store and the Android Marketplace the company could not integrate them properly with their devices. With the Symbian Belle Nokia is planning to change things for the better. Although from the preview video it looks that many features were copied from Android and iOS in general but I am sure that Nokia will have a unique and different experience to offer.
The new Belle features 6 Different Home screen that can be customized with widgets and Live Apps from the Ovi Store. You also have a drag down notifications center, a feature that was showcased by Apple in their latest iPhone 5. Belle is also looking to integrate NFC payments deeply inside their OS. The three smartphones that Nokia announced are the new 701 700 and 600. All of them are fully touch integrated and the 701 will feature a IPS display with the highest brightness ever in any Smartphone. The 700 also comes packed with a 1Ghz Processor. According to this Engadget Post some of their specifications were already leaked and certainly from the papers it looks impressive.
The 600 is a music oriented phone and comes packed with a 5MP camera and 3.2 Inch nHD Display. This phone will target the low level Smartphone market. Certainly Nokia knows how to set the prices right from their previous experience. It seems that Nokia is all set to make a solid comeback. Android and iOS should stop their petition fight for now and concentrate on the revamp of a more deadly enemy.
