Pinterest launches iPad and Android Apps
Pinterest is the fastest growing social networking site in 2012. The site simply exploded at Q4 2011 and never looked back. Today, the photo sharing giant announced that they are finally launching brand new applications for Android and iPad. Pinterest already released an iPhone app, a few months back. Although the original iPhone app was much appreciated the iPad is the one they are targeting the most especially due to the larger screen and the retina display of the new iPad 3. The Android platform was challenging simply because they had to find an adoptable design for different devices and screen size.
The iPad and Android apps are pretty similar to that of the original website. I mean the site themselves are designed so beautifully that there is no need for anther optimized version specifically for the tablets and the smartphone. Pinterest is now open to anyone and is becoming one of the best place for getting high quality relevant traffic to your site. One cool feature for the new apps is the ability to browse the web directly within Pinterest and then you can pin any photos using a dedicated button. Other stuffs are pretty much identical to the features on the web version. Overall I feel this is a much needed release from the company and it will surely increase user engagement for the website.
