Top 5 Android Apps for July 2012

The month of July saw some great changes taking place in the entire Google ecosystem.  With all the major announcements of Google IO 2012, July saw its practical implementations. While there are no significant improvements to the overall Google Play Store, this month comprises of Apps that you have never heard before coupled with one of the biggest release of the year. Without any more blabbering let me list our top Android Apps for July 2012.

Amazing Alex HD

Rovio, the creators of Angry Birds are back with one of the most anticipated mobile game of the year called Amazing Alex. This is a puzzle game where you are presented with a bunch of tools and an objective to solve the puzzle.  In order to achieve your goal for each level, you must arrange the objects and create a chain reaction using in-game physics.  The Physics engine in Amazing Alex is very accurate and much improved over that of their Angry Birds game.

Each and every level allows you to collect 3 starts, which is totally upto you how you achieve them as there are multiple ways to solve a stage. The best thing about this game is its social features where one can share their solutions with the rest of the community. If you do get stuck, you can always browse through solutions given by others for that particular level. This game draws you into the world of a Geek kid named Alex and offers you with over 300 levels to play from. If you are still not satisfied then you can create your own levels and share them with others. Similarly, stages created by others can be downloaded adding more to your puzzle library.

Amazing Alex might look easy in the beginning but with little advancement you will realize how complex things can get when you need to combine several objects like scissors, ropes, balloons, darts etc. to finish each stage.  This App is not free and comes for a very nominal price and it’s worth every single penny.

Springpad

Many a times I find my friends using 3-4 different applications to bookmark web pages for offline reading, collect classroom notes, saving pictures from the web etc. If you are one of those, who is simply exhausted by using so many apps then I highly recommend you go ahead and download Springpad for your Android devices. Springpad is one of the best apps out there that elegantly allows you to create and manage your very own virtual pad. You can do everything, I mean literally everything. Save pictures, videos, web pages or maybe share them with your other devices using Wi-Fi.  You can even share your pad with friends and families. Springpad is super easy to use and comes featured with a sleek snappy interface. The application is free to use and never pops out any advertisement or anything.

The Amazing Spider Man

Gameloft is once again back with a brand new game and this time it’s the mobile version of the recently released movie called “The Amazing Spider Man”. The game features a fairly accurate New York City where you can zip through high skyscrapers in spectacular fashion.  The physics engine is massively improved making every action look more accurate and authentic.  The gameplay is still same where you have a bunch of missions that require moving through the city, killing bad guys and of course the ultimate boss fights. This game is priced at 4.99 USD and I think it’s the best Spider Man game for a mobile device.

The Dark Night Rises

Yet another Gameloft powered movie game makes into the top 5 list for this month.  While the movie Dark Knight Rises just got released for the public on July 20th, the Android version of the game does a decent job by immersing the user into the world of Batman.  This time Batman is accompanied by several other characters from the movie like Lucius Fox, Catwomen etc.  The game looks graphically stunning and the city of Gotham is creatively created with dark alleys, tall weird looking buildings etc.  The gameplay is immensely satisfying simply because of the easiness with which you can full off any combo you want. Dark Knight Rises is a must have for all you Gotham fans out there. One thing I would definitely like to mention is to watch the movie before playing the game as it acts as the ultimate spoiler.
